SERVICES
In my professional practice, I adhere to the techniques, materials and intervention methodologies that align with the established standards of the conservation-restoration profession. These standards are guided by the ECCO Professional Guidelines of the European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers' Organizations, the principles of ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property), and by ARP (Associação Profissional de Conservadores-Restauradores de Portugal)
CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE
Diagnosis, conservation and restoration interventions on artworks as well as paper, parchment and leather documents, in two-dimensional formats (drawings, paintings, engravings, handwritten and printed documentation), and three-dimensional (books, globes, folding screens and scroll paintings of Asian origin), including other formats and typologies.
After examination and diagnosis, the work is treated in a way that promotes its stability, according to its material, technical and contextual specificities.
The most common interventions are cleaning; fungus removal; consolidation of the support and chromatic layer; union and reinforcement of cracks, cuts and tears; deacidification and hydration of the support; dimensional stabilization and flattening; material and chromatic reintegration; sticker removal; structural and original binding restorations.
Adequate packaging or mounting solutions to protect works, whether in a reserve or exhibition environment, using custom-made boxes or conservation folders, or the fixing of works on a secondary support, using conservation materials and techniques, to be framed or displayed.
CONSERVATION PROJECTS FOR HOLDINGS AND COLLECTIONS
Diagnosis and development of conservation projects for public and private archives and collections, based on their specific study. This includes assembling specialized teams, procuring necessary materials and equipment, defining intervention phases, and implementation of procedures.
Large holdings, such as collections from archives and libraries (public and private), should have a more global approach, to optimize the resources available for the safeguarding of heritage.
A comprehensive assessment of the conservation status of the collection is conducted to identify priority intervention areas. Based on this analysis, an action plan is developed, outlining the most effective strategies for its preservation, in accordance with the client's specific needs. This consultation may also include guidance on the design and production of packaging for items in storage.
